OK, are you ready? Give us your best five minutes on:
My life before You
I was a flame burning down
I was burning out
But You knew me better
For You there was never a doubt
God, since You gave me life
Something was different, I knew it the instant
You put the light in me
This spark is shot to the heart
You are the hope that leads me out of the dark
You let Your love shine down
So that the world could see
You put the light in me
The light, You put the light in me
I was a flame burning down
I was burning out
But You knew me better
For You there was never a doubt
God, since You gave me life
Something was different, I knew it the instant
You put the light in me
This spark is shot to the heart
You are the hope that leads me out of the dark
You let Your love shine down
So that the world could see
You put the light in me
The light, You put the light in me
Lyrics by Brandon Heath
I wrote this post last year, during the Easter season. How much has changed since then!
I was a still a mommy-in-waiting. Now I am mommy with a beautiful baby girl in my arms. We are in the process of putting together her easter basket, as well as making symbolic resurrection rolls... even if she is too young to understand either yet.:)
She is the light of mine and her daddy's life. She is a constant reminder of the love of our Heavenly Father.
Elliott Faith (whose name means The Lord is my God to TRUST) has been such an amazing reminder of the Love of Lord in our lives, especially mine.
Our time of infertility was often time a dark and trying time for us, especially me. I would love to say I was able to maintain a completely submitted and Holy attitude throughout the trials, but I often allowed myself to be pulled down into the darkness of unmet desires and wanting emotions.
As the song above says, He knew us better then we knew ourselves, and in a moment of complete and utter unsuspecting surprise, He gave us an early anniversary gift.
In many ways, I feel like the Light was relit in our lives, my heart.
Beautiful, beautiful Elliot Faith (and mommy!). I love how our children constantly point us back to Him.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Amy! Elliott is my maiden name, and since I gave it up (joyfully) when I got married, I thought it would be fun to pass on to my daughter.
DeleteParenting does WONDERS to our walk with the Lord, for sure! One of my friend's dad told her,"You will never sleep or pray the same ever again." Truer words were never spoken!
Thanks for stopping by!
This post really touched me...brought tears to my eyes. What a gorgeous baby girl and I love the meaning behind her name!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Brenda! We didn't even realized her combined meaning meant that (Elliott:The Lord is my God; Faith:to trust) until the right before she was born... after we were told at 34-35 weeks she had quit growing and needed to be delivered now. Sweet little reminder that she was in HIS hands, not ours! She has been a continual blessing ever since.
DeleteBeautiful, sweet, and faithful.
ReplyDeleteI think she is pretty cute, but then again I might be biased ;-)
DeleteShe (Elliot) is a doll and yes, children have a way of always pointing us to the Lord...we need it. Hoping your first Easter with Elliot is joyful and a great memory to cherish. Have a Happy Easter.
ReplyDeleteI am very excited about celebrating WITH her this year, and teaching her the true meaning of easter in the years to come!
DeleteHappy Easter Blessings to you too, Dionne
Love this! Beautiful baby and mommy. Love how you captured all the changes that have happened in a year and the Light is beaming forth from your bloggy world. So glad I stopped by.
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you for your sweet words of encouragement. We have been so richly blessed that I pray every aspect of our life IS a LIGHT to dying and hurting world.
DeleteFirst of all... you and your daughter are gorgeous. I L-O-V-E that picture! I am so encouraged with your light... and thankful that we ALL have light in Jesus Christ! Thanks for shining into my day, Amy! (I think I shoulda wore my sunglasses!) Blessings to you :-)
ReplyDeleteYour words are too kind! Thanks for sharing your encouraging words, and have a wonderfully blessed Easter Weekend!
